The color of the heartwood is described as brown yellow to reddish brown, with dark fine veins.

The grain is frequently interlocked, sometimes severely.
The wood is medium textured.
Very high durability.
Extremely heavy wood that shows low linear shrinkage and moderately stable volumetric shrinkage.
It is resistant to fungi attack and does not need to be preserved.
