Evergreen tree 5-20 m high, although it can reach up to 40 m, and DBH up to 150 cm, with a generally straight, cylindrical stem, with grooves at the bottom. Indistinct or absent growth rings. Diffuse porosity. Vessels with radial orientation, multiple of 4 or more.
